Only October, Debut Album Released!

Hannah Rundman’s debut album, released October 2, 2021, is a warm and vulnerable exploration of society and self that dances on the edges of indie rock.

Written between May 2020 and May 2021, the album explores the non-linear nature of life and working through mental illness, the tension of both loving and struggling with your hometown, the loneliness of the pandemic, and the murder of George Floyd in the city that Hannah called home.

Only October was written during an early fall 2020 snowy season as the COVID-19 pandemic was escalating. It was released September 17, 2021.

A song about laughter and joy existing alongside grief and sorrow, Only October reflects the ambiguous loss of pandemic isolation, exhaustion from too much time spent plugged in, and the dissonance of overlapping experiences of mental distress and privilege.

Violist Sam Bergman adds the final touch to this heavy-hearted track.

Power is the song that resulted from a therapy session where the homework was, “maybe write a song about power.” It was released September 24, 2021.

Power is an exploration of the difference between power and force, and draws on inspiration of the power that radiates from Chanel Miller’s warm, gentle, and bold writing.
